World Ozone Day (16 September 2023) is celebrated by planting trees and raising awareness.

Nagpur, 16 September 2023: 16 September is World Ozone Day or the International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer. The day is dedicated to creating awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and the efforts being made to protect it. World Ozone Day was established in 1994 by the United Nations General Assembly. This day commemorates the signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987.

On the occasion of World Ozone Conservation Day, Atma Sparsh Charitable Trust, Queen’s Academy and residents of Sonegaon area celebrated by planting trees. In which 20 trees like Bela, Banyan, Pimpal and Neem were planted which produce more oxygen. Children made posters and went around nearby settlements to create awareness. Abhinandan Palsapure, Secretary, Atma Sparsh Charitable Trust spoke on the importance of ozone layer.

Ex-Corporator Mrs. Meenakshitai Telgote, Atma Sparsh Charitable Trust Chairperson Dr. Abhiruchi Palasapure, Lokmat Sakhi Mancha Representative Mrs. Nisha Mankar, and Queen’s Academy Director Pranita Ghosh along with local citizens and volunteers planted trees.

Pranita Ghosh, the organizer of the program thanked everyone at the end of the program. Atma Sparsh Charitable Trust’s Vaibhav Bopinwar, Nikita Chawre, Monali Kathoke, Nikita Wankhede, Sonegaon residence – Ranjana Patil, Kajal Raut, Meenakshi Pandey, Shobhatai Kulkarni, Seema Lokhande, Pooja Shikkalwar, Archana Nerkar, Meenal Basole, Jyotsna Sawaitul, and local Senior citizens were present.
